Want to be on TV on Friday morning?

Orlando’s Fox 35 will be joining us on Friday morning at a little before 8 AM! Yes, that’s early, especially after Night of a Thousand Wizards 2, but if you’re interested in coming down to the Quidditch Pitch in your costume , we’d love to have you join us! Registrants, friends and family are all invited – and we’re planning a little Quidditch scrimmage to start the morning off right!

Twitter Is Your Friend

If you have a Twitter account and either unlimited sms/text messaging, or a high volume account, we strongly recommend that you get the @HPEF Twitter posts sent to your phone throughout Ascendio. We’ll be posting updates, news, room changes, new meetups, reminders and so much more from our @HPEF account, so it’s the best way for you to stay connected at the Portofino Bay Resort (or in the Parks).

Photographs! Autographs!

Ascendio is only a few days away – and some of the staff is already on-site, getting ready for Registration, the Common Room, Wrock, StarKid, Night of a Thousand Wizards, our plays and musicals, and of course, our programming sessions!

And we’re sure you’re all getting into a magical mood, too!

A few details have been finalized in the last few days:

  • Family Art, the photographers who have a studio at the Portofino Bay Resort, will be taking photos with members of Team StarKid (date/time TBA) for $35, and your photo will be available within a few hours so you can have it autographed, too! Remember, the only way to be guaranteed a StarKid autograph is to get a ticket for their Friday afternoon panel, although we may have a limited number of extra autograph tickets at the Registration Desk.
  • Family Art can also take your photo with Chris Rankin and/or Afshan Azad, also for $35 each – and they’ll be printed by Saturday morning, too! We may add additional sessions on Saturday to accommodate everyone.
  • An autograph from Chris Rankin and an autograph from Afshan Azad are both included with each Full registration! We’ll also accommodate as many people with day passes as possible. You’re limited to one autograph from Chris and one from Afshan on each trip through the line.

Family Art Patronus photograph

Family Art will also be on-site on Saturday before (and possibly during) the To the Manor Ball, where they’ll photograph you in your finery – and if you’re interested in “casting” your Patronus, they’ll capture it on film for you, too!

With an assortment of printing options ranging from tiles to canvas there is something for every witch and wizard.

You can head over to the Family Art Studio in the Portofino Bay Harbor any time, whether you’re staying at the hotel or not. With an variety of printing options, they can bring your magical wishes to life.

They can also do underwater photography – and capture the way you look while riding a broom!

Harvey Putter and the Ridiculous Premise

Harvey Putter and the Ridiculous Premise

What? You haven’t seen the Harry Potter film spoof “Harvey Putter and the Ridiculous Premise” yet?  The film, which had its world premiere at Infinitus 2010, will be shown again at Ascendio on Friday, July 13th at 8 p.m. in Venetian IV.

It stars Bryce Cone, Sunny Williams and Joe Scheibelhut. For fans by fans, the film also features Kiran Shah (“Lord of the Rings”, “Chronicles of Narnia), MuggleNet webmaster Emerson Spartz, and music by Wizard Rock bands such as The Remus Lupins, Oliver Boyd and the Remembralls, and Draco and the Malfoys.

The story revolves around celebrity bad boy wizard Harvey Putter, who discovers through his Snogwarts headmaster, Professor Mumblemore, that they are all merely fictitious characters in a best-selling children’s book series. Harvey and his best friends–“poor witch trash” kid Rod Cheesely and bossy Hernia Grunger–are tasked with collecting seven magical books known as “Hortexts” in order to escape the book world before the final chapter.

HPRP star Sunny Williams will be on hand to introduce the film and answer any questions. Read More…
