It’s an Authorpalooza!

The Quill Track opens on Thursday afternoon with a reception hosted by our tote bag sponsor, Wattpad. Through the afternoon, many fine authors will be hosting displays of their own books til about to 5pm as part of the Book Faire. Be sure to also say hello to Omnific (a publishing company that grew out of fandom), and the following authors who’ll be joining Lindsay Ribar, Aimee Carter, Michelle Hodkin and Lev Grossman.

Logospilgrim
Book: The Severus Snape Paradigm: Outcast, Rebel, Hero
Logospilgrim is a religious pluralist who likes to write about Professor Severus Snape, spiritual transformation and mysticism; she is the author of several books of essays, such as “The flawed master: lessons Professor Snape taught me” (visit logospilgrim.com for more details). She has spoken at a number of Harry Potter conventions, including Witching Hour, Lumos, Prophecy, Convention Alley, Infinitus and Aeternitas. She has a degree in Religious Studies and enjoys collecting curiosities. She may be somewhat of a curiosity herself. In addition, she has a really awesome tattoo of the Potions Master on her left arm.

Mark Reads
Books: Mark Reads Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone/Chamber of Secrets/Prisoner of Azkaban
Mark Oshiro mixes textual analysis, confessional blogging, and humor while discussing and dissecting popular media. He’s tackled Twilight, Firefly, Gaiman’s American Gods, Doctor Who, The Hunger Games and, most infamously, Harry Potter. Diana Copland
Books: Sindustry Volume One, A Brush of Wings, Grand Jete
Diana Copland began writing in middle school, when she shamelessly combined elements of Jane Eyre and Dark Shadows to produce a Gothic mess that earned her an A- in creative writing, thanks entirely to the generosity of her teacher. In 2007 she discovered LiveJournal and a wonderful group of supportive fanfiction writers, who encouraged her to try her hand at original gay fiction. She has a new book entitled “Reason To Believe” coming out through Carina Press in October.

Cecilia Tan
Books: The Prince’s Boy volumes 1 & 2, the Magic University books 1-3, Daron’s Guitar Chronicles
Cecilia Tan is the pro fiction “pseudonym” of Ravenna C. Tan. She writes long, emotional, erotic stories that she aims to make as addictive and engrossing as her fanfic. With any luck she will have some new books to exhibit, including book 2 of The Prince’s Boy, book 3 of Magic University (The Incubus and the Angel), and perhaps one or two copies of a “rough cut” (not yet proofread) version of Daron’s Guitar Chronicles.

Karen writes about herself: “The professor in me (30 years teaching various law courses) could not overlook the plentiful teachable moments provided in J.K. Rowling’s wonderful series. The book I will excerpt in my reading slot thus resulted – Law Made Fun through Harry Potter’s Adventures. I am also an elected judge and engage in various writing projects including college textbooks on law, and a blog on the law behind the news. My favorite volunteer activity is being a Big Sister in the Big Sister/Big Brother program. Hats off to the Harry Potter Alliance!”

Erin Pyne

Erin Anne Pyne is the creator and director of the Orlando Harry Potter Club. She is active in the Harry Potter fandom community, presenting at the Potter symposiums, and performing in wizard rock concerts as The House of Black. Pyne has a Bachelors degree in Psychology and Masters Certification in Conservation Biology relating to her career as a dolphin trainer in Florida . She also has an amazing one year old son named Rowan William. Publications include The Ultimate Guide to the Harry Potter Fandom (What the Flux Publications), A Curiouser and Curiouser Series (Rowan Tree Books), The Red Angel Comic Series (What the Flux Comics), and Dolphin Journey (iUniverse). She has published articles in “Art Nouveau Magazine” and “The Ringlords- News of Import.”

Leslie Barnhart
Book: The Christian’s Guide to Harry Potter
Leslie Barnhart combines the magical elements of Harry Potter with theology, mathematics, chemistry, and history to create Christian curriculum for Summer Camps. In her muggle life, she teaches arithmancy and potions in the muggle school system in Virginia. She is married to a muggle, and has two wizarding children who are prefects at Hogwarts each summer. In her new book “The Christian’s Guide to Harry Potter,” she explains all of the Christian elements hinted at, refered to, or glossed over within the series.

Belle Malory
Books: Wanderlove, Foretell
Belle Malory lives in enchanted castle with a beast and talking dishes…no…wait…that’s the Disney version. Ms. Malory’s life, on the other hand, is a little more ordinary. However, she is like the Disney Belle in the aspect that they both read a lot of books. Aside from reading, Belle enjoys writing young adult novels, mainly in the paranormal romance and urban fantasy sub-genres.

Kele Moon
Book: Defying the Odds
A freckle-faced redhead born and raised in Hawaii, Kele Moon has always been a bit of a sore thumb and has come to enjoy the novelty of it. She thrives on pushing the envelope and finding ways to make the impossible work in her story telling. With a mad passion for romance, she adores the art of falling in love. The only rules she believes in is that, in love, there are no rules and true love knows no bounds. So obsessed is she with the beauty of romance and the novelty of creating it, she’s lost in her own wonder world most of the time.
